About Us
Engineering with the environment in mind
Building services have a direct and lasting effect on a building's energy use, resource consumption and environmental footprint.
Our approach
Sustainable building services
Heating, cooling, lighting and power systems are collectively responsible for a significant share of a building's total energy consumption over its lifetime. The choices made at specification and installation stage — equipment efficiency, system design, controls strategy — can have a far greater effect on long-term environmental performance than almost any other factor.
We approach every project with an awareness of this. Rather than treating environmental performance as a separate consideration, we look at it as part of good engineering: systems that are well sized, well controlled and well maintained tend to use less energy, last longer, and cost less to run.

Areas of focus
How environmental thinking shapes our work
Environmental performance is influenced by decisions made throughout a project, not just at the point of installation.
Energy efficiency
Specifying appropriately sized equipment and effective controls to avoid unnecessary energy use, rather than defaulting to oversized systems.
Material selection
Considering the durability, performance and environmental profile of materials and equipment where a genuine choice exists.
Waste reduction
Planning installations to minimise offcuts, packaging waste and avoidable rework, and segregating waste on site for appropriate disposal or recycling.
Lifecycle thinking
Weighing whole-life running and maintenance costs against upfront price, recognising that the cheapest system to install is not always the cheapest to own.
Lower-carbon approaches
Where appropriate and agreed with the client, considering lower-carbon heating, cooling and control technologies as part of the engineering solution.
Responsible procurement
Working with reputable suppliers and manufacturers who can account for the provenance and performance of their products.

Environmental management and biodiversity
Construction and building services activity can affect the immediate environment around a site, from dust and noise to the handling of materials and waste. Good environmental management on site means planning for these impacts in advance, rather than reacting to problems as they arise.
Where projects involve external works or sit close to natural habitats, consideration of biodiversity — protecting existing trees, hedgerows or wildlife features where practicable — is a sensible and increasingly expected part of responsible site management.
- Planning to limit dust, noise and disruption during works
- Careful handling and disposal of waste materials
- Consideration of biodiversity on and around sites, where relevant
